Johor Immigration authorities have dismantled a migrant smuggling syndicate operating from Bangladesh to Malaysia via Singapore, charging RM13,000 per person. Two Bangladeshi men acting as caretakers were arrested during an operation at a transit house in Larkin Indah. Authorities also uncovered a separate case involving Filipino child labour at a factory in Kulai.

Transit House Raid in Larkin Indah
On December 19, Johor Immigration conducted an Ops Serkap operation, arresting two Bangladeshi men, aged 37 and 42, suspected of operating a transit house for smuggling victims.

Smuggling Route and Fees
The syndicate charged RM13,000 (SGD 3,895) per person for the journey from Bangladesh to Malaysia via Singapore. Investigations revealed the operations had been ongoing for two months.
Evidence Seized
Authorities confiscated several Bangladeshi passports, RM14,500 (SGD 4,342) in cash, and a vehicle believed to be used in smuggling operations.
Separate Case of Child Labour
In a separate operation, two Filipino minors, aged 12 and 13, were rescued from a factory in Kulai during Ops Mahir on December 19. A 44-year-old human resources officer was arrested.

Legal Actions Underway
Both cases are being investigated under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 and the Passports Act 1966. Authorities have vowed uncompromising action against offenders.
