BMW Group Malaysia has celebrated 20 years of operations by expanding its Regional Parts Distribution Centre in Senai, Johor. The facility now spans 65,000 square metres, reinforcing Malaysia’s role as a logistics hub for the Asia Pacific region and BMW’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
The BMW Group Regional Parts Distribution Centre in Johor, established in 2004, has grown into one of the Asia Pacific’s largest facilities. Its recent expansion underscores BMW’s dedication to boosting operational capabilities and embracing sustainable practices while positioning Malaysia as a key logistics hub.
The facility’s growth from 45,000 sqm to 65,000 sqm marks a milestone for BMW’s presence in Malaysia. BMW Group Malaysia Managing Director Benjamin Nagel highlighted that the centre reflects BMW’s operational excellence and the strategic importance of Malaysia in the Asia Pacific supply chain.

The expanded facility includes advanced features such as a dedicated High Voltage (HV) Battery Storage Area and a Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) racking system. These upgrades enable the facility to handle a robust inventory efficiently while meeting diverse market needs across 20 countries.
The addition of a solar panel roof aligns with BMW’s global sustainability goals. The facility supports green initiatives, such as reducing carbon footprints, while its two-story configuration allows for future expansion.
The centre’s turnover has nearly doubled, from EUR141 million in 2017 to EUR277 million in 2023. Handling over 100,000 inventory lines monthly, the facility maintains a service level of 90% and delivers over 33,000 cubic metres of airfreight weekly, underscoring its critical role in the regional automotive industry.

Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim of MIDA emphasized BMW’s success as a testament to Malaysia’s strategic position and skilled workforce. He praised BMW’s ongoing investments, noting their role in boosting the country’s economic potential and inspiring further global investment.
