During a working visit, the acting Bupati of Kepulauan Meranti, Roni Rakhmat, emphasized the importance of understanding market demands and ensuring high-quality products for consumers.
On 15 October 2024, Acting Bupati of Kepulauan Meranti, Roni Rakhmat, visited Rangsang Barat to observe the local fisheries industry. His visit highlighted the strong potential of Desa Sialang Pasung’s fisheries, particularly the fish farms producing siakap, which have successfully expanded into external markets, including Batam.
Roni Rakhmat praised the fisheries sector in Desa Sialang Pasung, noting its ability to meet external market demands. “Understanding consumer preferences is key,” Roni emphasized during his visit to the fish farms. The local fisheries sector’s growth reflects its capacity to deliver high-quality products, aligning with the demands of cities like Batam.

The visit also included a civic engagement activity, where Roni distributed identity cards (KTP) to first-time holders. He reminded the public to use their KTPs responsibly, especially as the 2024 simultaneous regional elections approach. “It’s important to maintain peace and unity during the election period, even with differing political choices,” Roni stated.
Following the fisheries visit, Roni toured the newly built Polsek (Police Sector) office in Rangsang Barat. He was warmly received by Kapolsek Rangsang Barat, Iptu Roly Irvan, who assured the public of the police’s commitment to maintaining security during the election. “With 14,483 voters across 39 polling stations, we are prepared to ensure a smooth and secure election process,” Iptu Roly affirmed.
The fisheries sector in Rangsang Barat continues to be a focal point for economic development, with government support helping to facilitate market expansion.
