In a strategic move to improve infrastructure and connectivity, BP Batam has unveiled plans for a new road stretching 3.5 km from Batu Ampar to Kampung Seraya, aimed at enhancing links between the port and Nagoya’s bustling business district. This initiative was presented in a community meeting held on October 1, 2024, at the Batu Ampar Sub-district Office.
The BP Batam, through its Strategic Program Planning Center, has begun socializing a significant infrastructure project—the construction of a new road designed to link Batu Ampar with Kampung Seraya. This development is part of a broader effort to streamline connectivity and spur economic growth in the region.
Wesly Silalahi, Head of Transportation Planning, highlighted the upcoming field surveys and technical analyses to be conducted by appointed consultants. These preliminary activities are crucial for the design and successful implementation of the road.
The proposed road will cover a length of 3.5 km with a right-of-way of 30 meters, featuring dual lanes and pedestrian pathways. This development is expected to significantly ease the movement of goods and people between Batam’s major port and its central business district.
The meeting, which was attended by local leaders including the sub-district head Ridwan NS and representatives from various community and security bodies, underscored a strong community backing for the project. The discussions reflected a collective enthusiasm for the socio-economic benefits the road is anticipated to bring.
The construction of the road is also linked to other regional infrastructure projects, like the Dumai-Sei Mangkei gas pipeline, indicating a comprehensive plan to enhance Batam’s infrastructure landscape significantly by 2028.
