In a significant step towards bolstering regional cooperation, the Chief Minister of Johor, Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi, joined by a delegation, met with Muhammad Rudi, the head of Batam’s Management Agency, to discuss enhancing economic links between Batam, Indonesia, and Johor, Malaysia.
This meeting held at the Batam Management Agency office is part of a strategic effort to leverage the geographical proximity and economic potentials of Batam and Johor, fostering a beneficial partnership for both regions.
Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi commended Muhammad Rudi for Batam’s economic growth of 7.04% in 2023, citing it as an inspiration for similar advancements in Johor.
Emphasizing the transformation at Nongsa Digital Park, Dato’ Ghazi suggested potential collaborations with Iskandar Malaysia Studio, envisioning a synergy in digital economy development.

The discussions highlighted the planned Batam-Johor Ro-Ro route as a crucial step towards improving the connectivity between the two regions, which is expected to boost both local economies significantly.
The talks included planning for infrastructural development in both regions to support the new connectivity initiatives, with a focus on enhancing port facilities and transportation links.
