Indonesia Targets South Korean Tourists at Seoul International Travel Fair

Indonesia is actively courting South Korean tourists, aiming to increase international arrivals by showcasing its top destinations at the Seoul International Travel Fair (SITF) 2024. South Korea ranks as the eighth largest source of foreign tourists to Indonesia, with growing numbers each year.

The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), is participating in the Seoul International Travel Fair 2024 to attract more South Korean visitors. South Koreans are among the top ten nationalities visiting Indonesia, with a notable increase in tourist numbers last year.

In 2023, tourist arrivals from South Korea saw a significant increase, reaching 347,185 visits, a 284 percent increase from the previous year. This surge is part of a broader trend of growing interest from South Korean travelers in Indonesian destinations.

The target for 2024 is set at 344,752 South Korean visits, marking a 43.58 percent increase from the 2023 goal. This ambitious target underscores Indonesia’s commitment to enhancing its visibility and appeal in the South Korean market.

While Bali remains the most visited Indonesian destination by South Koreans, the government aims to promote other areas like Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang, which have been designated as Super Priority Destinations.

At SITF 2024, Kemenparekraf introduced tourism packages and promoted Indonesia’s new initiative, the Indonesia Film Facilitation, which offers international filmmakers and tourists access to diverse and picturesque filming locations across the country.
