In a pivotal move during the Indonesia-Singapore Business Forum 2024, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, and Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry, Gan Kim Yong, engaged in bilateral discussions to expedite the tech talent employment program’s implementation. This program is designed to facilitate the mobility of tech-savvy professionals between the two nations, reinforcing their commitment to nurturing a skilled workforce that can drive technological advancement and economic growth across the region.

The ministers reviewed the progress of six working groups dedicated to enhancing economic collaboration across sectors such as investment, transportation, labor, agribusiness, and tourism, setting the stage for the next Leaders’ Retreat.

The ministers emphasized the importance of promptly rolling out the tech talent mobility program, as outlined in the March 2023 MoU, marking a crucial step towards bolstering the regional tech workforce.

Discussion also focused on leveraging industrial parks and special economic zones to create a multiplier effect on business growth, underscored by financial incentives like tax holidays and allowances.

Minister Gan invited Minister Airlangga to participate in the IPEF Clean Economy Investor Forum in Singapore this June, planning to integrate this event with the next ministerial meeting of the six working groups.
