The Kepri Provincial Tourism Department is awaiting a decisive nod from the Finance Minister on a proposed Visa on Arrival (VoA) rate aimed at enhancing tourism in the region. This initiative, exclusive to Kepri, is set to make the province a more attractive destination for international visitors, especially those from neighboring countries.

Under Presidential Decree No. 78 of 2023, the Kepri Provincial Tourism Department, led by Guntur Sakti, has proposed a special VoA rate of USD 10 (approximately SGD 13.40) for a seven-day stay, applicable at 18 international entry points. This policy, distinct from the rest of Indonesia, is designed to streamline access for tourists from 97 countries, aiming to significantly boost regional tourism.

The proposed short-term visa fee is part of a broader strategy to enhance Kepri’s appeal as a tourism hub, differentiating it from other popular destinations like Bali.

By offering a lower VoA fee for short stays, Kepri intends to attract tourists who may otherwise be deterred by higher costs, targeting not just leisure travelers but also those with permanent residency in Singapore and Malaysia looking for quick getaways.

The VoA proposal includes a 30-day option priced at USD 50 (approximately SGD 67), providing flexibility and catering to a wider range of visitors’ needs.

This initiative reflects Kepri’s commitment to increasing accessibility in all aspects, including transportation, telecommunications, immigration, and facilities for the disabled, thus enhancing the overall visitor experience.

The anticipated approval of the VoA fee reduction is expected to give a substantial boost to local businesses, particularly in the hospitality and service sectors, fostering economic growth and employment opportunities.

The proposed $10 Visa on Arrival in Kepri represents a significant opportunity to explore the region’s unique attractions with greater ease and affordability. This initiative, if approved, could position Kepri as a leading destination in Southeast Asia, benefiting from increased tourist visits and reinforcing its status as a hub for cultural and leisure activities.

Kepri’s Tourism Department has proposed a groundbreaking $10 Visa on Arrival rate for seven-day stays, aiming to boost tourism by making the region more accessible to international visitors. This policy, which awaits approval from the Finance Minister, could transform Kepri into a premier travel destination, offering a competitive edge in the Southeast Asian tourism sector and enhancing economic benefits for the local community.
