The Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) announces IKN to become a “10-minute city,” focusing on efficient public transportation to traverse the city swiftly, with motorcycles banned in the central government area.
The transformation of IKN into a “10-minute city” reflects a paradigm shift in urban planning, emphasizing sustainable transport and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, aligning with President Joko Widodo’s vision for an 80/20 split between public and private transportation.
The core government area of IKN will prohibit motorcycle use, encouraging micro-mobility solutions for deliveries and commuting, in line with the vision of a pedestrian-centric urban environment.

OIKN plans to employ advanced technology, including intelligent transport systems, to regulate the number of private vehicles, ensuring they do not exceed 20% of total transportation.
Public officials residing in IKN are expected to set an example by predominantly using public transportation, with exceptions for essential government vehicles, which will be eco-friendly.
The transition towards fully electric vehicles in IKN is set for completion by 2045, with an initial focus on the central government area before expanding to other regions.
