The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) in Batam has voiced its strong support for the development of Rempang Island, anticipating economic growth and prosperity for the local community.

As investments pour into Rempang Island, seen as Batam’s new investment hub, stakeholders including the business community and locals are keen on ensuring that such developments not only bring economic growth but also uplift the well-being of the island’s inhabitants.

Jadi Rajagukguk, the head of Kadin in Batam, highlighted the organization’s role in actively participating and facilitating feedback from the public and business entities to ensure investments yield positive community impacts.

Emphasizing the principle of good governance, Kadin urges the government to consider broader aspects, especially the general interests of the local community, ensuring both investment security and public benefit.

In relation to Rempang’s development, Kadin emphasizes the importance of allowing the community to voice their aspirations, ensuring an environment conducive to business while preserving the rights and interests of locals.

To align these objectives, Kadin plans to host a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving related parties, including government ministries and agencies, local leaders, and investors.

In a significant move, global glass industry leader Xinyi, partnering with MEG, gained the support of President Jokowi. The president witnessed the memorandum of understanding signing between Xinyi, MEG, and the Ministry of Investment. This collaboration aims to develop a glass and solar panel industry ecosystem in Rempang.

The development of Rempang Island, with its strategic location, promises to not only boost Indonesia’s investment appeal but also present opportunities for international stakeholders, including neighboring Singapore. As this initiative takes shape, regional and global visitors can anticipate a blend of industrial growth and local culture, highlighting Indonesia’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive development.

Batam’s Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) champions the development of Rempang Island, emphasizing economic growth coupled with community prosperity. As global firms, like Xinyi, commit to invest, a blend of industry expansion and local well-being is on the horizon, offering potential opportunities for international stakeholders.
